Fees & Insurance Info

Individual Therapy & Counseling

Session times may vary based on your insurance but are usually 45-60 minutes; we will discuss this at your first appointment. Longer sessions are available if desired and booked in advance for clients not using insurance. Sessions often begin as weekly and then less frequently as your needs change.

My standard self-pay rate is $155. I offer a limited number of needs-based reduced fee spots for uninsured clients; these are available on a temporary basis and reviewed periodically so that others can take advantage of them. I am a member of Open Path Collective and have a limited number of spots on my calendar for those clients; you can find out more about working with me through Open Path here.

Even if your insurance is one that I accept, it’s important to check your provider directory or call your plan to make sure I am in-network. There are sometimes plans that I cannot accept because of contract limitations.

In MO & GA, I accept:

  • United Healthcare / Optum / UMR / AllSavers

  • Cigna / Health Partners / Evernorth

  • Aetna

  • HSA/FSA cards

  • all major credit cards

Payment in full or your co-payment/co-insurance is expected at time of service. Services provided to residents of AL are currently not covered by insurance.

I am considered an out-of-network provider (OON) with insurance companies not listed above. Sessions are provided on a fee-for-service basis and payment in full is your responsibility. Depending on your current health insurance provider, services may be reimbursed in full or partially.  I can provide you with a monthly “superbill” that most insurance companies require for possible reimbursement.

I recommend that you call your insurance company to verify coverage. These are some questions that are helpful to ask:

  • Do I have mental health coverage for outpatient teletherapy or video-based (sometimes they understand “telementalhealth” better) psychotherapy? If applicable, Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage for teletherapy?

  • How much will I be reimbursed if I use an OON provider?

  • Do I have a deductible? What is it?

  • Do I have a co-pay? How much is it?

  • How many therapy sessions am I allowed annually?

  • Are there diagnoses that aren’t covered?

  • How do I submit for reimbursement if I get a superbill?

  • Do I need a pre-authorization?

  • Is there anything else I need to know before beginning therapy with a provider?

If you desire a higher level of confidentiality, know that insurance companies require a therapist to give a diagnosis to cover and continue services. If you would like to discuss this, please let me know during our phone consult.

Coaching

Sessions are 90-minutes and the cost is $175. It is important to understand that this help is not covered by insurance, needs-based reduced fee, or by Open Path Collective.

Group Counseling

Group counseling rates will vary depending on topics covered. Some insurances cover group therapy. I will check your insurance coverage prior to beginning. Scholarships may be available for cash paying clients.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

Notice to clients and prospective clients:

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
